About “Bud”

Terence “Bud” Crawford (born September 28, 1987) is the undefeated American World Champion Boxer. Born and raised in Omaha, Nebraska, Crawford took up the sport of boxing at the age of seven, falling in love with the sport in the process. As an amateur, Crawford competed in 70 bouts, beating future world champions Mikey Garcia and Danny Garcia.

Crawford turned professional in 2008 as a lightweight, winning his first 22 fights before earning a shot at the WBO Lightweight title against Ricky Burns. The fight took place on Burns’ home Scottish soil, but Crawford outclassed Burns to win his first world title. After defending his lightweight title twice, Crawford moved up to light welterweight and defeated Thomas Dulorme to win the WBO light welterweight title.

Crawford would go on to win all the belts in the weight division (WBO, WBC, WBA, IBF), becoming the undisputed champion, the first in any weight division since 2005. In the process, Crawford was named the fighter of the year in 2014 by ESPN and the Boxing Writers Association of America and in 2017 by ESPN. He also became one of only five male boxers in history to simultaneously hold all four major world titles in boxing.

After his accomplishments at light welterweight, Crawford decided to move up again in weight division, this time to welterweight. In 2018, Crawford defeated Jeff Horn to win the WBO Welterweight title and has defended the title four times to date. Over the past few years, Crawford has been named among the world’s best boxers pound for pound, including reaching the #1 ranking by ESPN in February of 2021.

Outside of the ring, Crawford founded B&B boxing academy, a non-profit that teaches local Omaha children boxing and fitness free of charge. Additionally, he is the co-founder of Pixelbird, a digital agency that facilitates strategic partnerships for sports organizations and athletes using blockchain and cryptocurrency. Crawford has six children and enjoys spending his free time hunting, fishing, and gaming.
